Fixed In-vivo Probe> Single Cell Opto-Electric Probe
The single-cell recordings require that the optical fiber core diameter at the fiber end is com- parable to the size of the cell under observations. The electrode tip has to be of the similar size and in close proximity to the fiber core.
One way of achieving those specs is by making a dual core optical fiber having the light guiding core and a capillary within its cladding and pulling or tapering one fiber end into small diameter tip. When the capillary is filled with electrolyte, the fiber end becomes usable single-cell opto electric interface smaller than the cell itself.
- For accurate In-vivo Single Cell nOpto-Electric recordings, we strongly recomend you choice Doric Light source and Optical Fiber Systems using with below products.
- To make practical use of this fiber optic probe, it has to be integrated with optical and electrical connectors. Then simple optical fiber patch cord can be used to connect this opto electric probe to the fluorescence cube while the electrical pin can be linked to a conventional electrophysiologi- cal setup.
- An opto-electric probe tip is a piece of dual core optical fiber with 500μm optical core and 250 μm hollow core for electrolyte filling with one end pulled and cut to 10 μm diameter tip as illustrated above. The probe tip is simply inserted into dedicated Single cell recordings opto electric probe holder.
